THE KINABATANGAN RIVER CRUISE

THE KINABATANGAN RIVER CRUISE

The KINABATANGAN RIVER is the longest river in Sabah. The river lengths take 560km beginning from Crocker Range and end into the Sulu Sea on the east coast of Sabah. The KINABATANGANR RIVER provides an enriched ecosystem with remarkable varieties of wildlife.

The KINABATANGAN RIVER has received recognition from World Wildlife Fund that it is one of the two places on Earth where 10 primate species can be found especially Bornean Orang Utan & Proboscis Monkey, Sights of Hornbills, the Eagles and Kingfishers are common in this area. If you the ' Chosen One', you may spot Pygmy Elephants during the cruise.

They are the smallest elephant species on Earth. This place is certainly a must visit place for nature lovers and bird watchers.

I will strongly recommend to visit this place, if you are flying to SandakanSabah.

How to get there.

There are flights from Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan. Once arrived at Sandakan, you will need a land transport to Sukau which will take 1-2 hours of journey through a palm oil plantation. There are few numbers of lodges around the area that provides different types of river cruise packages. Therefore you can opt to choose a day trip cruis, 2D1N cruise and 3D2N cruise.
For backpackers I will strongly recommend to get some locals that arrange the boat trips at their own. You can charter the whole boat with minimal fees. This would be the best deal for the one day cruise. For more informations, you may contact the following email otteripog85@gmail.com

The river cruise in Kinabatangan River is a remarkable experience on should have.

You will have the opprtunities to watch the wildlife at their natural habitats. Watching excotic willdlife that only belongs to Borneo is simply indescribable. The river cruise will take 2-4 hours depending on the package. Some agent do provide night cruise as well.
