Thaipusam is one of the important Hindu religious festival which will be fall on the full moon of the Tamil month of 'the'. This year, Thaipusam will be celebrated on 17th January 2014 (Friday). It's celebrate to pay grace to the Lord Muruga. In Malaysia, Thaipusam celebrated very grandly at Batu Cave Temple, Penang Waterfall Temple and Ipoh Batu  Malai Temple. This is most popular location in Malaysia with the highest rate of numbers of devotees who will attend for the celebration.

    • This is number one most famous Thaipusam celebration location in Malaysia. Every year expected more than 100,000 people attend at Batu Cave to pay tribute to Lord Muruga here.

    • Malaysian government makes better facilities while help organizer to conduct this festival. Late night train services and bus services provided to facilitate public and tourist to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Batu Cave.

    • I strongly advise that you choose for public transport due to HEAVILY CONGESTED ROADS and few main roads will be closed during this festival. 
    • Depending on GPS to reach here may be is not a good idea, particularly in this festival season.

  4. Penang Waterfall Temple

    • Second famous Thaipusam spot in Malaysia with an expected crowd of more than 80,000 people and 10,000 tourists.
    • Newly renovated temple should be another attraction for this year and expected more crowed compare to last year.
    • Thaipusam here will give you another unique experience. A day before Thaipusam called as ‘Chetty Pusan’ and numbers of devotees will come here to pay their tributes. Followed by an actual Thaipusam celebration.
    • In Penang, A lot of private companies, colleges, government organizations and individuals will set up booths along at Tanjung Bunga Road, offering foods and drinks for the devotees. Heavy and loud music will be played by some of the booths there.
      Coconuts breaking is another unique ceremony here. Don’t be surprised when tons of coconuts been smash break on the roads and “small caterpillars” is cleaning the area.
    • I will strongly advise to use public transport to reach here. 
    • For those who like to drive their own car,   THEY  ARE  REQUIRED  TO  PARK  CAR  FEW  KILOMETRES AWAY  AND  THERE  ARE  PARKING CHARGERS.

  • This is small town in Perak, however this year Thaipusam attract more than 10,000 people here at Sri Subramaniyar Temple, Kardikuchi, Sitiawan, Perak.
