Kudat, Sabah.

Kudat  is another  district in the  northern  region  of  Sabah.  It was the  administrative capital during  the  British  colonial  time.  It is indeed  a small  town, but  it  is  one  of  the  must  visit  spot in  Sabah.

5 must visit place  in  Kudat

1. TIP OF THE  BORNEO /TANJUNG  SIMPANG MENGAYAU

 

My personal  view : The second  best  place  to  visit  after Kinabalu Park.  You  will be  blessed  with  great scenic views at the  meeting  point  of  two seas: Sulu Sea &  South China Sea. 

The blue sparkling sea gives  tranquil  atmosphere  and  strong  sea  wind  will  calm yourself.  

How to get  here:
It's take 2-3 hours  drive  from Kota Kinabalu.  Once  you  got  nearer there are  two  routes.  One  is before  reaching reaching  Kudat  town  and  another  one  after  passing  by  the  Kudat town.  I’ll suggest to  take  the second route. The  road is  better compare  to  another  one.

To be honest, you  might  be  thinking why the  routes  are so bad in  conditions.  I don't  have the  authority  to  answer, that though.  Just  get  ready  to  drive  on  the  road  with  a lot of  loop holes.  I mean  A Lot. 

However  the  whole  journey  is  certainly worthwhile  when you  reach  the  destination.  You  will know  it.

There  are few resorts that  you  can  choose  to say  next to  the  beach at  SIMPANG MENGAYAU. However  the  beach  is  not  really  suitable for  swimming  due to high  tide and  deep.  There  are few  drown cases occurred. 

It will be  star gazing  place in Sabah.  If you  are  lucky  you  might able  to make  wishes  after  shooting  star. 

2. GOMBIZAU KUDAT BEE FARM

It's a must  visit place  if  you have  no  idea  how  honey  being  collected.  You  will  have  the chance  to  taste the  honey  from the  honeycomb.  However, it depends  on  the  seasons  though. There will be friendly guide who will take you to have a look at their farm.

The  entrance  fees  : RM 5.00/ADULT 
Open from 8.00-5.00pm

However, I doubt  the  honey  products  being  sold there are  genuine  or not. 

3. RUNGUS LONGHOUSE

The ethnic  mainly found  in Kudat  are Rungus who  lives  in  long  houses. You  can  visit  the  long  house  with  cost of RM5.00/ADULT.  ‘  open  from  8.00-5.00pm. You  also  can  have  the experience  of  staying in  the  long house.  The  accommodation  fee will  be  RM100-150 depending  on the  package.

4. KG SUMANGKAP GONG FACTORY
This  village is well  known  for its  Gong  Making.  Well  as  far  I know, this  is the  only Gong  making  village in  Sabah.  The  entrance  fee  will  be  
RM5.00/ADULT.

5.SUNSET  MUSIC FESTIVAL 
This  is  a new attraction of  Kudat. There  will be  Orchestra  Music  Festival  during  the  Sunset  at SIMPANG  MENGAYAU. It will be next  Experience  ever.  Normally  the  Music  Festival  will  be  organized  end  of Jun annually.  

The  best  part  is  that.. You  can  visit all  those  place  either  on  the  way  to  Kudat  or on  the  way  return  to  Kota Kinabalu.
